I DO KISS MY DOG ON THE MOUTH, BUT ALAS, I DIGRESS…ALY ON GUEST VOCALS IN THE STUDIO

The last entry upon further consideration may be have been TMI(too much information), especially if you’re not a dog lover-plus I don’t really get into it much if it’s not about Wedlock, anyway…… the extra special treat that made Wedlock’s night was getting the chance to have Alison Davis come to the studio and lay down some vocals for a track we’re finishing called “Octagon.”
At first, I was mildly upset because I thought I sent her the materials she needed for her part as I demoed it out with Lee from a previous session, but-(and no damned thanks to file den) Aly could not open the document. That was an oh sh%* moment for me.
However, Aly has natural improvisational skills, and has a way of reading and interpreting that translated into the studio. She got comfortable, and went to work on it.
In the end, she laid down an extremely sensual, whispered tone reminiscent of what Phil Oakey may have done with Susan Ann Sully(from Human League-eh, I am NOT saying we sound like the Human League-I’m talking about the dynamic lyrical and vocal play between male and female on a track). She also read an excerpt from “Inextricable” on Baxter’s idea-and she pulled that off without a hitch, of course-I mean she’s a professional actress, after all, isn’t she?
All told, it was a brilliant evening, and Aly is a blast to work with.I expect she will be even more fun once we begin shooting for the video.
Right now Wedlock is releasing Continuity in the fall, and beginning to play out our dates starting with 9/4 and 5 back to back in Wilmington, Labor Day Weekend.
