Have The Talented Ones Really Left? Wedlock @ The Cave, pt2

loader Have The Talented Ones Really Left?

Wedlock is nowhere near being able to compare itself to an international group like the Human League, but when Kidder and Bryson left, it did remind me of the same thing that occured with Phil Oakey, their lead singer. For whatever reason, he and Martyn Ware could not get along, and then Ian Craig Marsh left as well.Millions of record sales and eons of time separate our situation, but the scenario was the same.No matter how we turn out, I’ll always be grateful to Ana Mitchell for believing enough in me for Wedlock to continue. So our line up now is Paul Allgood, Jay Bowden, Ana Mitchell, &Baxter Smith. Bowden is a multi-instrumentalist and programmer, Baxter Smith is a jazz influenced keyboardist who decided to pursue electronic music. We have a new place to rehearse, gigs lined up starting in September at the Nightlight in Chapel Hill w/The New Up, and a new Ep, as Bowden and I have been recording new material together.Until we have actually reached a level of success it’s hard to really say whether or not “the talented ones have left,” or if it was really a matter of “addition by subtraction.” At any rate, the show we did together at the Cave was a good show.Hendecatope is a brilliant electronic artist who once again outdid himself. You can hear bits of his new record “Swirl,” here:myspace.com/hendecatope.
I don’t have enough time to dwell too long on negative things, and I can say that I enjoyed my time performing with Jj and Kirk.

“Exogamy” is still out on Kounterfeit Records.
